It seems that Reed MIDEM’s name and those of its exhibitions are being unlawfully used within the framework of a world wide fraudulent venture.
This has recently been brought to our attention by participants who have been solicited by companies offering, via internet, accommodation services for room or apartment reservations in Cannes, or in surrounding cities, at the occasion of their participation in our exhibitions. After making payment for this accommodation, attendees have discovered that these reservations did not in fact exist. These maneuvers emanate from companies that are in no way linked with Reed MIDEM even if the names of both the trade shows and Reed MIDEM are mentioned in their offers. Some of these companies present themselves under names such as The Ultimate Living Group, Riviera Network, Expo Group Travel, Business Travel International and Premier Destinations, this list however is not exhaustive.
Should you be solicited by an identical proposal, we strongly recommend that:
- You undertake a scrupulous examination in regards to both the reservation terms & financial conditions
- and thoroughly document yourself regarding the companies issuing the offer, (financial status, place of incorporation etc.) before making any commitments whatsoever.
For your information, all property rental agencies working in France must be holders of a professional licence, a bank guarantee and civil liability insurance. In addition, the inclusion of this information is compulsory on all official documentation, including their website.The same conditions apply to travel agencies who must provide similar legal guarantees.
