The MIPFormats Pitch is an international pitching event for companies with innovative concepts for new, non-scripted entertainment formats.

Warner Bros. International Television Production, MIPFormats Pitch exclusive sponsor for 2012, will commit to spending up to €25,000 to develop the winning project via one of its production companies, with an eye toward developing the winning entry as a television project.

The MIPFormats Pitch is open to all creators and producers from around the world to propose their new and original, genre-defining non-scripted entertainment formats. Convergent format concepts enabling cross-media and multiplatform productions as well as hybrid format concepts crossing the lines of programme genres are encouraged to enter the event.

    • 30 November 2011: Call for entries online opening
    • 12 February 2012: Extented deadline for entries
    • 31 March 2012: Live Pitching

  • Selection will be based on the following criteria

    • Creativity
    • Originality
    • Innovation
    • Capacity of returning for multiple series

  • Application criteria

    • The selected projects are to be well structured, tightly formatted
    • The selected projects must fit in the following genres: entertainment, factual entertainment, gameshows (no shows in the scripted reality and no documentaries will be accepted)
    • The selected projects must have potential to travel as a format to countries small and large, developed and emerging
    • The selected projects must be new and original format concepts which have not been commissioned or broadcast on linear television or non linear television yet, and for which the worldwide format rights are still available.
